Join the Trail & District Arts Council and Trail’s Incredible Farmers Market on August 15 for an entertaining evening of food vendors, market, beer & wine garden, and live music at The Night Market in Gyro Park. There’s lots to do at the last Music in the Park for the season from 5 pm to 8:30 pm, all topped off with great live music.
The music will kick off at 6 pm as the Maritime Kitchen Party bring their Cape Breton standards to the park.
Maritime Kitchen Party (MKP) brings the energy of the Nova Scotia tradition to every show with foot-stomping Celtic music and Canadiana! Playing traditional tunes, Great Big Sea, Stompin' Tom, Blue Rodeo. Tragically Hip with originals, rock, country, and more, everyone will want to join the party!
MKP has opened for… or played with some great artists including Blue Rodeo, Great Big Sea, Econoline Crush, The Sheepdogs and many more.
Then from 7:15 to 8:15 pm Stubbs and the with their spontaneous show for the whole family. Rooted in Rossland, this 5-piece started playing crowd-pleasing covers before discovering their independent original and theatrical music. With lyrics in 10 different languages, and a track-list that defies labelling under traditional genres, the audience can’t help but join in the fun!
Stubbs and The have taken their ridiculously entertaining live shows to every corner of Canada as part of their 2023 Canadian Summer tour. The band is driven to push the limits of what you like in music, with elements that mix silliness with genuine authenticity. There are no rules; Stubbs and The want to show you what explorative music can sound like!
To add to the evening’s experience, Rhythm by Nature will be running 15-minute drumming workshops at 5:15 pm, 5:45 pm, and 7 pm.
Set free your inner rhythm, connect with your community, and let the beat move you in a fully interactive and immersive drumming experience! Participants will learn about and experiment with different drums and drumming techniques. No drumming experience needed and all the instruments are provided.
Facilitator Patrick Carrick is a professional percussionist, and music educator. Patrick’s drumming has taken him all around the world and his workshops employ a multicultural approach, not based on any ethnospecific traditions, cultures, or rhythms, so that the experience is accessible to everyone.
Bring a lawn chair. Admission is by donation - $3 minimum suggested. Or support the Trail Arts Council's programming by buying a Season Pass for the whole summer for $30! You may buy a pass at trail-arts.com by clicking on any of the Music in the Park events and clicking the “Buy” button. Or buy them in person at Gyro Park with cash or credit card.
Our next Night Market on August 15 will see us once again collaborate with Trail's Incredible Farmers Market. These awesome events bring the community together for Music, Food, Beer Garden and Farmers Market. So much fun in Gyro Park. These special events run from 5-8:30 pm.
