Record Ridge Grassland Interpretive Hike

Consider coming along for this educational hike led by local scientists! They will be sharing their knowledge about fascinating native plant, bee and soil characteristics of Record Ridge.We will start our hike to the closest meadow and smaller outcrop meadows just beyond at a 500-750 metres return trip. For those people wanting to continue to the meadow in the event photo, this will be a 3km return trip. We will give interpretation as we go and let people choose their return point. KNPS is hosting a second hike on Sunday, July 2 to view the later flowering plants. Please see their page for details soon: kootenaynativeplants.ca Schedule: Meet up at 9:00 a.m. at the Rossland Museum and Discovery Centre Parking lot to carpool up the Old Cascade Highway to the Seven Summits South trail head. Expect to be in the field for up to 4 hours. Please be prepared for hiking with enough water, snacks and appropriate clothing and shoes. Sunscreen and a brimmed hat are recommended for this site. Please keep dogs on leash or leave them at home so that we can make as many wildlife observations as possible, and there may be vulnerable groundnestig nighthawks right now.
