Classic fiddle meets acoustic chamber folk with an otherworldly edge.
Starting off our final Music in the Park concert at 6.15 pm are the Golden City Fiddlers!
The Golden City Fiddlers started in 2006 after attending the BC Oldtime Fiddle camps at Selkirk College Castlegar campuses each summer, and have been playing for local Sr. Homes, dances, Aboriginal Days and community events ever since. The group consists of 10 to 15 amateur musicians, who play Oldtime dance fiddle music from tunes learnt from the Fiddle Camps.
Headlining tonight we have the Raine Hamilton String Trio at 7 pm.
Resonant, acoustic chamber folk with an otherworldly edge, and a lyric presence that cuts deep. Prism-clear vocals + strings. Anchored in the ancient mountains, reaching out beyond the earthly.
Raine invites the love of the violin into the singer-songwriter genre, writing for violin and voice, as well as for guitar and voice. Joined by cello and upright bass, expect string arrangements that push and pull, that move as they console. Raine’s latest work, the full-length album "Brave Land" (2021-22), is a concept album about mountains, and the courage and wisdom that they represent.
"Raine Hamilton’s storytelling is almost ethereal in its energy and tone. Her vocals never waver, and each song carries its own power." - Rebecca Mattina, Canadian Beats
