Kootenay Savings Music in the Park Night Market: Jenie Thai with special guests the Holly Hyatt Trio

August 4 5:00 to 8:30 pm

Join us for an awesome evening of food vendors, market, beer & wine garden as 3X Maple Blues Award Nominee Jenie Thai comes to The Night Market from 5 pm to 8:30 pm for an evening of soulful, funky, danceable blues to trad barrelhouse piano.

Special guests the Holly Hyatt Trio open the evening at 6.15 pm! Holly Hyatt is a vocalist, songwriter, acoustic and electric bass guitar player from the beautiful Slocan Valley. Her music has infectious dance grooves, funky guitar and positive, uplifting lyrics - think "Susan Tedeschi" and "Eva Cassidy" meet "The Family Stone".

Holly's debut solo album “Wild Heart” (2019), featuring Memphis Soul tinged single “River Flows”, received rave reviews. In March 2019 “River Flows” won Best Rhythm and Blues Song at the Kootenay Music Awards and was nominated for an International Indie Blues Award in 2020. She has previously released three blues and roots albums, as part of the duo Holly and Jon.

Holly is currently touring with her three piece band, consisting of Hyatt-vocals & bass, Jon Burden-guitars and Steve Wilson-drums. Her live show has been described as "soulful, funky, fun danceable blues!" and "a dynamic live show that leaves the listener feeling uplifted and inspired!"

"Not only is Hyatt a singer with a Bonnie Raitt-style vocal range, she is a monster bassist as her playing throughout the album proves." The Vancouver Sun

Our Headliner tonight is Jenie Thai!

When you meet her, Jenie Thai is composed, pleasant, amiable, friendly, and — she won’t like the word but you have to live with it — sweet. She has an open face, long hair, a ready smile and an easy laugh.

And she is also tough, and gritty, and plays barrelhouse piano steeped in the blues — and if that wasn’t enough to get your head around, she also writes and sings tough and tender ballads, direct from her heart to yours.

She now calls Toronto home — she lives on the road, and there’s dust on her shoes, love in her heart, and a whole lot of music in her soul.

“With a combination of contemporary and traditional blues piano, and a fiery passionate voice, Jenie “Thai” Nolan has been making a name for herself across the country and the world.” - Vue Weekly, Stephan Boissonneault

"Jenie Thai is an uncommon talent, full of life and zest and sparkling energy. While based in the blues, this woman's music is passionate pop with style and guts…" - Flohil and Associates Publicity and Concert Promotions, Richard Flohil
