The Father at the Silver Screen Drive-in

July 8 9:30 to 11:10 pm

Don’t miss out on the heartbreaking, Oscar winning performance by Anthony Hopkins in “The Father” on Thursday July 8 at 9:30 pm.

In this beautiful Academy Award-winning screenplay, a man refuses all assistance from his daughter as he ages. As he tries to make sense of his changing circumstances, he begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind and even the fabric of his reality.

Having scared off his caregiver, Anthony, an ailing, octogenarian Londoner gradually succumbing to dementia, feels abandoned when Anne, his daughter, tells him she's moving to Paris. Confused and upset, against the backdrop of a warped perspective and his rapid, heart-rending mental decline, Anthony is starting to lose his grip on reality, struggling to navigate the opaque landscape of present and past. Now, as faded memories and glimpses of lucidity trigger sudden mood swings, dear ones, Anthony's surroundings, and even time itself become distorted. Why has his younger daughter stopped visiting? Who are the strangers that burst in on Anthony?

Led by stellar performances and artfully helmed by writer-director Florian Zeller, The Father presents a devastatingly empathetic portrayal of dementia.

“Deeply sympathetic but never patronising, The Father is a gentle-handed yet powerful film that forces us through Hopkins's extraordinary performance to have an albeit fleeting window into what living with dementia could be like.” - Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, ABC Radio (Australia)

"The Father" provides sensitive, superbly compassionate insight into many things, including the fragility of dignity, the ghost prints left by grief and love, and the abiding mysteries of consciousness itself.” - Ann Hornaday, Washington Post
