Kootenay Avalanche Courses is offering a free online avalanche refresher through Zoom, next Tuesday, November 24, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm PST. Although everyone is welcome, the refresher will be geared toward people that have taken their AST 1 or AST 2. It will be fast-paced and interactive via the chat feature. We will cover the 7 steps of the daily process:

• Looking for the key points in the avalanche forecast.

• Primary strategies when planning a backcountry trip.

• Required and optional gear.

• Verify conditions through online sources and field data.

• Essential travel habits for the backcountry.

• Key aspects of terrain for evaluating slopes.

• Takeaways that inform future trips.
