The Children Act - Sunday Cinema

October 28 4:30 to 6:15 pm

"The Children Act is a masterpiece from beginning to end and it should not be missed." - Tiffany Tchobanian, Film Threat

Adapted by Booker Prize-winning author Ian McEwan from his own novel, The Children Act  is an intelligent, sophisticated and intriguing film. High Court judge Fiona, an amazing Emma Thompson, always puts her work first, threatening her marriage to Jack (Stanley Tucci). In the midst of this Fiona has a life-changing decision to make at work: should she force a teenage boy, Adam (Fionn Whitehead who got his big break in Dunkirk), to have the blood transfusion that will save his life against his Jehovah's Witness parents wishes? Her unorthodox visit to his hospital bedside has a profound impact on them both, stirring strong new emotions in the boy and long-buried feelings in her.

"The Children Act is that rarest of things: an adult drama, written and interpreted with a sensitivity to mature human concerns." Peter Debruge, Variety
